Roundup Lawsuits – Product Use Linked to Cancer

Litigation documents prove that Monsanto maneuvered legitimate studies exposing the dangers of glyphosate, and created a campaign of misinformation to convince government agencies, farmers, and the general population that its product was safe.

If you or a loved one has been harmed due to Roundup use, contact an NYC product liability attorney at Hecht, Kleeger & Damashek, P.C. for help. Call us today at (212) 490-5700. We can also be reached through the online form.

Roundup Usage & Risks

Roundup is a well-known herbicide utilized to kill weeds and grasses that are unappealing or damage crops. Its main active ingredient and what makes it an extremely dangerous product is glyphosate. Monsanto discovered the potential use of glyphosate as an herbicide in 1970, and started advertising it in 1974.

In 2015 the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) concluded that glyphosate is a probable carcinogen to humans and animals. The IARC is the cancer agency of the World Health Organization.

250 million pounds of glyphosate are sprayed every year on crops, lawns, sidewalks, public and private parks, and golf courses, among others. This number has been increasing in the last years due to the expansion of genetically modified (GMO) crops that are designed to resist the killing power of glyphosate products. While Monsanto has earned $4.8 billion in revenue from its sales of Roundup, innocent people get sick because of their repeated contact to this harmful herbicide.

Roundup Side Effects

The most severe side effect from exposure to glyphosate (Roundup’s core ingredient) is the development of cancer, specifically non-Hodgkins lymphoma, leukemia, B-cell lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. The non-Hodgkins lymphoma starts in the immune system nearly anywhere in the body. It grows in lymphocytes which are white blood cells in the immune system that help the body fight diseases.

Cancers linked to Roundup/Glyphosate:

  • Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma
  • Large Diffuse B-cell
  • Follicullar Lymphoma
  • Cutaneous T-Cell
  • Anapalastic T-cell
  • Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia
  • Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma
  • Mantle Cell Lymphoma
  • Primary Central Nervous System (CNS) Lymphoma
  • Multiple Myeloma

These diseases can be extremely painful and treating them can deplete lifelong savings and retirement, often costing tens of thousands of dollars leaving a family in debt.

While it is common for those who are frequently exposed to Roundup in agricultural and farm-use, our firm is investigating and representing individuals and families throughout the U.S. who have used this product in and around their homes, gardens, and backyards.

Victims are exposed to glyphosate from breathing it while spraying, mixing or cleanup, or through drinking water or eating food contaminated with it.

Roundup Today

As of this time, there has not been a recall of Roundup as a result of its link to cancer. However, several scientific studies conclude there is a link between the use of glyphosate and non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
